I am applying for a grant, and one of the tasks we are seeking funding for is to make a large image database publicly available for users to train artificial intelligence (convolutional neural network) algorithms. We want a database where users can access and download the photos. After the photos have been augmented, we could potentially have over 120,000 images (taken from a digital camera) to share. This number would grow over time.

What are some good on-line, public domains where I could potentially upload this database?

Do you have to upload the images as image files (PNG, etc.)?

If you can also upload the images in data format, then Kaggle might be a good solution.

You can upload datasets there and share them publicly for data scientists to explore them, you can even add a sample notebook. I have done this with some image data myself which I used for a GAN.

If the data is zippable I am sure you can also upload ZIPs there as well.

Alternatives might also be Github or the UCI Machine Learning Repository.
