I recently came upon this good reference from Microsoft on software development aspects of deep learning models and their operationalisation. The paper itself is based mostly on Microsoft's internal survey data.

Amershi, S., Begel, A., Bird, C., DeLine, R., Gall, H., Kamar, E., Nagappan, N., Nushi, B., & Zimmermann, T. (2019). Software Engineering for Machine Learning: A Case Study. IEEE/ACM 41st International Conference on Software Engineering, 291–300. https://doi.org/10.1109/ICSE-SEIP.2019.00042

I wonder whether there are similar papers from either Google or Amazon, that anyone has come upon.
