Many people know the most common advantages of autonomous (not autopilot-controlled) cars, such as safety, efficiency, or parking.

But what are the legal advantages of autonomous vehicles? Normally, you only hear about problems like having to change a lot of the legal aspects.

I would have thought that there was no hit and run, drunk driving, and generally no deliberately caused car accidents.

I would be very interested if someone would come up with further advantages.

$\begingroup$ I would argue that the prevention of illegal activity is not a “legal advantage” - in any case you should be absolutely specific in your definition of what you mean by the term. Also, any answer would be highly country-dependent. $\endgroup$ – indiscreteLogarithm Oct 7 '18 at 20:23
  • $\begingroup$ The question really needs to be clarified, as suggested in the previous comment. What do you mean by "legal advantages"? Edit your post to clarify that, then I may re-open this post. $\endgroup$ – nbro Dec 27 '20 at 13:16
  • $\begingroup$ It is not clear what you mean by 'autonomous' and 'not autopilot-controlled'. $\endgroup$ – Brian O'Donnell Dec 27 '20 at 16:10
